Command line history is not working

I have LEAP installed; SHELL is /bin/ksh
The command line history is not activated when I press the up-arrow key, it just displays ^A
It looks like the commands are being added to my command line history however, because if I type ‘history’ it displays my command history.

I would be grateful if someone could help me get this working.

Many thanks,

Gary

It could be interesting to know from which device you use the command line. The console, a terminal emulator like konsole in KDE, …?

Not sure whether command line history is active for ksh. Default shell on Leap ( and other openSUSE versions ) is bash

EDIT: just tested, must be something in that area, feature doesn’t work when I fire up ksh

I have here openSUSE 13.1, KDE Konsole and when using ksh getting earlier commands using the Up key is functioning.
