Clicking on "Preview Post" deletes what I've written.

Then it is rather certain you did it correct. But it being a character that does not only look strange in the place where you found it, but also is apparently a character that does not come with the most obvious installed fonts (the other one is in a font on my system), I was careful to jump to conclusions.

Do I understand correctly that you state that when this character is in the post 🡕 and then you click the the Preview, you post will be emptied?

Well, character is in the line above and I now click Preview. The Preview is OK and nothing is deleted.

As the character was in a CODE section, I also made

🡕

Prefect Preview and no problems.

Ok.
Default terminal font was used IIRC. (Can’t check now)

Yes post is deleted from editing area after click on Preview when using Palemoon or Firefox. Nothing is deleted with Brave browser.

It is not deleted, but rather UTF-8 character is mangled. Same happens with Edge (and I would presume Chrome/Chromium).

I am not sure you got it. It is not the character that he reports as deleted, but the whole post content in the edit panel.

@MakeTopSite.
Something is not OK in post handling om your site. My post #@@ above shows the character correct (that is, my growser shows a replacement glyph, the rectangle with the hex code, because there is not font available for it).

But when you quote my post in post #24, the character is malformed and 6 invalid byes are created. Very strange.

I use Google Chrome on Tumbleweed and this problem won’t show up there.

But just for fun i fired up Firefox (from obs://build.opensuse.org/mozilla repo) and tested it: Yes MakeTopSite is right. In Firefox the texteditor window gets cleared if you show the preview with this character. And as Palemoon is a distant fork of Firefox…the same issue may show up there too as MakeTopSite reported here.
So maybe an issue how Firefox handles special characters…

I think we are still not on the spot. I am using FF (102.4.0esr on LEAP 15.4) all the time and have no emptied tex teditor window on Preview as reported in post #22 above.

That was posted from palemoon, Ubuntu.

I clicked on “Reply With Quote” on Post #22 and Edit area is empty from the beginning !

Tumbleweed, downloaded Firefox.

I’m using downloaded Firefox. Never opensuse package.

Same behaviour for me. That is with FF v106.0.2 (Windows 10) and FF v 102.4.0esr (openSUSE Leap 15.4).

Seeing the version numbers involved, I assume it is upwards from a certain FF version. Bug-report?

The strange part for me, is that the text does appear for a brief moment, before the edit window is empty. Not something I’d noticed until reading this thread. Yes, a bug report may be the way forward here.

I’ve made post on palemoon website: https://forums.opensuse.org/forum.php - clicking on Preview button clears text edit area - Pale Moon forum

(waiting for registration email from https://bugzilla.mozilla.org)

I’ve never seen text for a brief moment - maybe it’s too fast on my screen ?

some PM forum member thinks it could be caused by CKEditor which is forum component.
