Clearing Recent Documents openSUSE 11

How do I clear recent documents from my GNOME “Documents” tab??? I’ve been searching, and its got to be something right under my nose that I cannot find…

It is not possible… Only way is that you add to panel old gnome menu, clear them and then remove it from panel :frowning:

I think that you can disable “Documents” in gconf-editor :slight_smile:

Thanks for the help! Couldn’t find anything to erase them, but I did find the option to disable Recent Documents in gconf-editor:

Applications-> Configuration Editor-> desktop-> gnome-> applications-> main-menu-> lock-down

showable_file_types [1,2,3,4,5]
to
showable_file_types [1,2,4,5]

Hello

I’m using SLEDv10-sp2 with the gnome desktop.
I usually clear the recent documents and recent programs by deleting this file:

.recently-used

you have to activate “view / show hidden files” in your /home folder in order to show this file.

<OF>

Deleting the .recently-used files wokrs great in openSUSE 11.0; althought the file is called a liitle differently, I think.

Maybe it’s just my system.

A “Clear Recent Docs” button or option should really be added. Maybe it’s in openSUSE 11.1; haven’t been able to toy with that yet.

Cheers,
Tom

Under 11.1 if you go to the recently used tab and right click. You are given 2 options. You can clear recent applications or documents. Just select the one you want and click on it. It will clear them away. Hope this helps.

PS… I would imagine the same thing can be done under 11.0

mbreno,

under gnome I am not able to duplicate this ability.

If only provides Open, Rename, Send, Add, Trash.

everyone: and for whatever reason when I used

to over write the files, the recent docs returned after a few seconds, even though they were removed initially after these commands executed. Weird.

I am using opensuse 11.2 with Gnome… In the “Documents” menu, you should see “Favorite Documents” and “Recent Documents”. Right mouse click over any of the recent ones and scroll to the bottom of the pop-up menu. you should see “Purge all the recent items”

Click that and it’s done! :slight_smile:
