claws mail setup

I tried setting up knode, and it is nice except that I cannot make a 3
column layout with the folder list in one column, the message list in
the middle, and the message body on the right. So I set up claws mail
to
read these forums, as it accepts NNTP, and it has a nice 3 column
layout. The only problem is that I cannot post to this newsgroup in
claws mail. I am able to do it in knode, but I don’t know where to
enter my forum login and password in the claws mail configuration in
order to post in claws mail. Any ideas on how to set that up? I checked
the configuration screens and cannot find anything that has me enter my
login and pw.

(for that matter, even in knode I don’t have my forum login and pw
entered, but for some reason my post goes through anyway)

I would use knode, but I really need the 3 column layout with my
widescreen monitor.

I’m not currently using nntp, but I do use claws. So I experimented with setting up an nntp account. There was a box on the basic accounts setting page, where I could check that the server requires authentication. Below that there’s a grayed-out account and password field. I assume that if I check the “requires authentication” box, then the account and password fields will become accessible.

I did not complete the nntp setup - I cancelled out at that point.

Hi
None required, just use forums.opensuse.org and localhost for the smtp
server.

In the chit-chat forum there is a thread named “NNTP Test Thread - Take II”
where you can test if nntp works for you or not.

And questions about nntp itself are typically asked in the
support-information forum: you are not asking really about an application.

No login-pass required.

Just do not use your real email, use instead your

“Wanted name” <login@@no-mx.forums.opensuse.org>

All this is explained in the FAQ, search “nntp” in the list of questions.
