Chromium crashes or freezes often

I have Chromium installed on Tumbleweed with zypper from the main repository:

$ zypper info chromium

    experience the web, and to create a powerful platform for developing a new generation of web applications.

It freezes or crashes from time to time. In the past when I had issues with chromium, I solved them by deleting the cache or (if that didn’t help) the entire config directory, but the last few weeks this didn’t solve the crashes and freezes.

How can I troubleshoot the problem? I tried running chromium -v, but I don’t know what to look out for.

Thank you for your help!

There are alredy some threads and even a bug report:

I was grateful to discover Felix Miata’s tip on rolling back to Chromium 125 in Tumbleweed (near the bottom of the thread):

126 was almost unusable.

This is one of the worst tips ever if you have a basic understanding of security.

Chromium 125 is 7 versions behind the actual one and has 67! unfixed CVEs!

It is better to use another alternative browser in the meantime or at least use the chromium flatpak.
