Can't Login from FTP's Client , When disconnect from VPN...

I’m use OpenSUSE 12.3 64BIT on Gigabyte Q1700 AMD E-450
My problem is Can’t Login FTP and error is

FileZilla error

Status: Connection attempt failed with "EAI_NODATA - No address associated with nodename".
Error: Could not connect to server

Dolphin error

Could not connect to host MY-FTP-HOST: Timed out trying to connect to remote host.

But if I connect VPN to my office. FTP work fine with no error.
I’m not use VPN all the time and when i’m logout , FTP got error above.
And can’t FTP to other place, i’m mean if i don’t connect VPN , FTP can’t use.

Please help. Thank you , Sorry for my noob English.

That is how enetrprises secure* their networks. You cannot access some resources on office networks without VPN.

Thank you for reply. But i’m mean other FTP’s server that don’t need to use VPN for connect.
Simple FTP’s server can’t connect when i’m disconnect from VPN.

Status : Not Connect VPN.
Problem : Can’t Connect to VPN’need , FTP-A , FTP-B. ( FTP-A , FTP-B must can connect)

Status : Connect VPN.
Problem : No. Everything OK.

I’m use simple ADSL’s internet from wireless. And just one FTP in my job that i have to use VPN.

PS. I’m think my English not enough to explain.

Can you try something similar to what i do below with the ftp server you are not able to access ?

i opened “lftp” client on my openSUSE 12.3/ GNOME 3.6 and i can open and list content on publicly accessible FTP servers

lftp :~> open ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/misc/promo-usb/
cd ok, cwd=/pub/gnome/misc/promo-usb
lftp ftp.gnome.org:/pub/gnome/misc/promo-usb> ls
-rw-r--r-- 1 ftp ftp 784334848 Oct 08 19:03 GNOME-3.6.0.iso
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 50 Oct 08 21:24 GNOME-3.6.0.iso.md5sum
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 100 Oct 08 21:23 GNOME-3.6.0.iso.md5sum.old
lftp ftp.gnome.org:/pub/gnome/misc/promo-usb>

I can also ping it

$ping ftp.gnome.org

I’m don’t have skill for command line, but i’ll try. Thank you for reply.

Error when can’t connect FTP.

myid@linux-jo14:~> ftp myftp.comftp: Name or service not known

And above FTP’s server don’t need to connect VPN to access.
Like program didn’t connect to internet. It’s not known name or service.
I’m connect VPN just in some case. Not all the time.
Because almost my FTP client’s simple FTP’s server.

But if i’m connect VPN.

Everything OK. But I’m don’t need to connect VPN all the time.
Cause it’s VPN client’s server. Look like Opensuse say i
can connect FTP from VPN only.

Can we try ping too?

ping myftp.com
