Can't install /boot/efi on drive with either leap nor tumbleweed

This is my laptop’s drives:

$ inxi -D
Drives:
Local Storage: total: 2.75 TiB used: 384.09 GiB (13.6%)
ID-1: /dev/nvme0n1 vendor: Samsung model: SSD 990 EVO Plus 2TB
    size: 1.82 TiB
  ID-2: /dev/nvme1n1 vendor: Micron model: 2550 1024GB size: 953.87 GiB

I want to install the boot/efi on the ID-2 drive. The installers both yast and agama won’t let me. I can only go through the install if I select the ID-1. drive

I have tried both Leap 16 and Tumbleweed.

Agama (leap 16) gives a warning, that selecting ID-2 drive is invalid and yast (tumbleweed) will not go through the writing of boot/efi on the ID-2 drive.

I don’t want to use the ID-1 for boot or for the rest. It’s reserved and will be almost full by the end of next month when I will move a whole bunch of data there.

Now, right now, I have to use Manjaro which can install without problem on the ID-2 drive.

How do I get either agama or yast to install on the ID-2 drive?

Thanks

What happens if you disconnect the first drive just for installing, and then reconnect?

Can’t just disconnect/reconnect, I would have to reopen the laptop, remove the ssd and then later reinstall the ssd. But it should work.

  1. Didn’t think about that
  2. But why is manjaro OK with this config but neither tumbleweed nor leap?

@elfroggio you select the disk and create paritions on it… Nothing will happen until you setup the disk how you want it… eg disk type gpt, partition one type ef00 size 4Gb for /boot/efi etc…

Just re-downloaded leap 16 and now it works!

Don’t know what happened, either agama was updated/changed or i did something wrong (likely).

Problem solved: Thanks
