Can't get DVB-T running USB-Stick (video_buf not found)

hello,

previous thread I wrote did not appear in forum so I write again:

when trying to scan for channels w_scan says:

Checking for kernel module video_buf… [NOT LOADED]
Loading module video_buf…
FATAL: Module video_buf not found. >:( FAILED >:(]

I don’t know what to do

can please somebody help me?

You might need to install firmware for your device first:

Try to run this immediately after plugging in the USB stick:

dmesg|tail

and post the result.

thanks for fast reply!

I replugged the usb-stick and…

dmesg|tail

and now?

well I finally got DVB-T working now, after logging in as user (didn’t know multimedia programs don’t work as root) and using kaffeine and xinelib from packman repositories.

but it’s “flicking”, i mean the movie stream is often not constant. It is getting better the smaller I resize the movie windows and my CPU usage is very high. Probably my old Pentium 4 with 2,5 Ghz is to slow? With windows I had excellent movie quality. Or do I have any video settings not optimal?

For me DVB play smooth on my 1.6GHz AMD k8 processor in kaffeine. Maybe which tvtuner you use will affect CPU utilization too. I use a ATI TV Wonder 600. Another factor may be your video card. Do you have the proper driver installed? You can check in Yast’s Hardware Info if you don’t like the command line

I’m not sure about optimal video settings… I never adjust it before.
