Can't find Thunderbird

I want to install Thunderbird. I found Firefox in the repo’s but cannot find Thunderbird to save my life. I haven’t used Suse in years so installing programs is messing with my mind a bit. Any help appreciated.

I have not used suse in a few years am kind of lost when it comes to installing. I can’t for the life of me find Thunderbird in the repo’s or yast or yum or anywhere. It should be in the regular repo’s shouldn’t it? A search showed no results.

Never mind this post. accidently posted twice. Brain dead.

If you cannot find the package for Thunderbird in the package Manager, try…

That will install the package and all the necessary repositories, as well.

Hope that helps!

Enable the ‘Main Repository(OSS)’ with yast, Yast>Software repositories, and then reload package manager and search again.

Its not at openSUSE regular repository which are at YaST by default. You have to add “openSUSE BuildService - Mozilla” from YaST and then either search for Thunderbird of find it from Mozilla repository. Hope it helps.

On my system I just download the .tar.gz build that works in Linux,
extract, and run. There may be an RPM… checking opensuse’s build
service…

Not the most current but…

www.opensuse.org
Click on ‘Get it’
Click on the ‘Package Search’ picture on the upper-right-hand side
Put thunderbird in the search and get some options come up… you
probably don’t need/want the translations so make sure you get the real
RPM. Otherwise do like I do… extract Thunderbird somewhere in your
home directory (I create an ‘apps’ directory for all my odds and ends)
and softlink it from the ‘bin’ directory so you can run it easily.

Good luck.

Hmm, it definitely is in the main repo, that’s where I installed it from. Observe the listing of the contents of the DVD:

$ isoinfo -i /dev/sr0 -l -R | grep -i thunder
-r--r--r-- 6 0 0 4425676 Jun 7 2008 [1739633 00] MozillaThunderbird-translations-2.0.0.12-34.1.x86_64.rpm

Note that the package is called MozillaThunderbird. Nonetheless a search using thunderbird in YaST should have found it. So check your repos.

Sorry, my mistake. It is in the main repo and also in the DVD. I installed Thunderbird while installing openSUSE 11.0. from DVD and forgot it.:o

Okay, thanks for all of the replies. I already had main repos enabled, so I will try the search for Mozilla as soon as I get Suse bootloader fixed. I hosed it ding something else but I can fix that.
