Cant find network folder

I get the feeling now that I have the wrong package…:stuck_out_tongue:

my kernel message:
->usbcore: registered new interface driver rt2870.

Please post output of ls /etc/Wireless command

etc/Wireless resite both rt2870sta and rt3070sta.

Remove RT2870STA directory from /etc/Wireless
After that, try again: remove usb dongle, unload rt3070sta module, plug dongle again, check interfaces.

I removed the etc/Wireless/rt2870sta/ dir

I still get that same kernel message from the rt3070sta driver.

He register the rt2870 interface driver.

Do u have files in this dir /proc/bus/usb/devices?

It must resite a filedescriptor for the USB device.

Did you unplug adapter and unload module, after removing RT2870STA directory?

rmmod rt3070sta

And again

ls /etc/Wireless

Is there other directories, exept RT3070STA ?
i have empty /proc/bus/usb

novsan… Can u post a direct link to the rt3070sta driver u used.

Cause I need to get lot more kernel messages then I have now.

no problem:

#> ls /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/updates/
rt3070sta.ko

or you need link to package?

The link to the package novsan. The direct link from the package u used.

Tnx…

Package depends of kernel version
For 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop version:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/driver:/wireless/openSUSE_11.2/i586/rt3070sta-kmp-desktop-2.1.2.0_2.6.31.5_0.1-1.1.i586.rpm
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/driver:/wireless/openSUSE_11.2/i586/rt3070sta-common-2.1.2.0-1.1.i586.rpm
Please check your kernel version:

uname -r

I installed the 2.6.31.12-0.2 driver package. :stuck_out_tongue:

How can I remove this driver before I install the new package?

it happens
remove wrong package with rpm -e command and install right version

rpm -qa | grep rt3070sta-kmp | xargs rpm -e

He reply ā€˜the package was never installed’??

i installed it with rpm -Fhv /.rpm .

Please post output of

rpm -qa | grep rt3070sta

No output…

They are not installed. :stuck_out_tongue:

Can I install with Yast?

Where did the rt3070sta.ko come from then, when not installed?

Ok, install rpms with

rpm -ihv rt3070sta-kmp-desktop-2.1.2.0_2.6.31.5_0.1-1.1.i586.rpm rt3070sta-common-2.1.2.0-1.1.i586.rpm

**rpm -F ** used to freshen package

Nice…

Interface is linked to ip and set up.

The led on the device is blinking. :stuck_out_tongue:

How can I set up DHCP for this interface?

Yast network manager give error ā€˜No network running’.
