Can't change default boot os with yast

I just recently installed opensuse 13.2.

The default boot os is opensuse 13.2. I have dual boot - linux and windows xp.

I went into yast and changed the default os to xp but it didn’t “stick” - that is, upon restart linux is still the default os.

I suppose the grub config file needs to be manually edited?

Why can’t the default os be changed using yast?

One other thing - I had opensuse 11.1 and did a new install of 13.2.

Here’s a copy of grub.cfg from the root/boot/grub2 folder (I believe this is the cfg file being used based on its creation date):

My apologies for posting this too quickly. Changing the default boot os using yast does work. I must have done something wrong the first time I tried it.

Jim

You said you went into Yast and changed the boot order. So Yast >> Bootloader >> Bootloader Options tab >> Default Boot Selection …and change. Did you notice if a tick / check mark was in the Probe Foreign OS box? Also did you get any error message on exiting the options? Did Yast run through that ‘Saving Bootloader Configurations’ checklist dialogue it does when you clicked OK?

Edit : missed op edit
