Hi there,
recently, I set up my 11.2 install with a new 11.4 install. Now, after having cured almost all issues with new installs: my CanoScan Lide 60 does not move the scanning unit back to the starting point after scanning. 11.2 did do so.
I am using Skanlite with the help of Xsane (0.998).
Any idea, why the scanner only moves forward to run a prescan and then stops “at the end” of the scanner? If I start a new scan, then the scanning unit is moved back to the starting point and then the next scan starts.
It is probably a nice to have thing, as scanning works nicely, but anyhow.
Hi Knut
I am in a similar position with my CanoScan LiDE 210.
The scan head moves back after a Preview Scan but does not move back after a Scan. My desktop uses the 64bit OpenSUSE 12.1.
When I do the same on both Ubuntu 32 bit on my Acer One netbook, the scan head moves back after both a Scan and a Preview (it works properly).
This morning I tried it on Mint 12 32 bit on the desktop PC running from the CD. I downloaded xsane and sane. Again the scan head moves back (working properly).
I have a feeling that the problem is a build problem or a 64bit problem.
I am going to try it using the 32bit version of OpenSuSE on a CD next.

Would you believe it?
xsane on OpenSuSE 12.1 64bit has started working properly - i.e. parking after a scan!
I am not sure if it was due to trying to set an ICC Color profile from the Windows build under xsane preferences; applying a routine software update; simply installing OpenSuSE 12.1 32-bit on an unused disk; using scanimage a lot, all of which I did or something else!
How frustrating!
I will report on bugzilla if and when I can reproduce the bug again.
