Hi,
I got a new laptop so I freshly install TW KDE on it.
I install the proprietary driver according to SDB:NVIDIA drivers - openSUSE Wiki
I also disable secure boot as I accidentally skip mok thingy and did not bother further.
I also use Wayland.
I tried the command systemctl suspend
to suspend.
The screen went black, keyboard light turned off, fan noise gone.
After a few seconds, I pressed to space bar, keyboard light turned on, fan start running, but screen remains black. Waiting for it to start does not start. My only option is to long press to power button.

I also disable bluetooth with KDE system settings.
When trying to wake up from sleep, ctrl+ alt + f1 f2 f7 etc does not work.

And at the login screen, if you choose “Plasma / X11”. then test … does it work?
Wild guess … it may not be locked up … I would switch to virtual terminal 1, change to run level 3 (networking no GUI), then switch to run level 5 (networking with GUI). My guess, the DE will show (fingers crossed).
It might be the wifi or Bluetooth. Read the first post on this link and check which wifi chip it’s using. This is a simple fix that will disable Bluetooth and WiFi before sleep and re-enable them after resuming.

Looks to me the propriety driver is triggering a problem/warning and more specifically the functionality to enable sleep.
I tried X11, does not work.
ctrl+alt+f1 f2 etc, does not work when I try to wake it up.
I did found similar report with the similar error you highlighted.
Could be NVIDIA driver fault.

Hi, Try this:
Create a file in /etc/modprobe.d
Name it like nvidia.conf
. then put this in that file
#Power Management
options nvidia NVreg_DynamicPowerManagement=0x02
options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1
Then save.
After saving it as root run
dracut -f --regenerate-all
Reboot
See if it will work on your machine.
Did you check my post about wifi?
You do have the mt7921 wifi according to your journalctl log and that’s likely your problem.

Hi,
I tried your suggestion but unfortunately it did not work.
I go as far as uninstalling proprietary nvidia driver but still did not work.
Atleast, I believe I can say that nvidia driver, wifi, and bluetooth is not what cause the issue. Or I might not done it correctly.

Check if nvidia services are started at boot time.
nvidia-hibernate, nvidia-suspend, nvidia-powered, nvidia-resume.
Those four should run at boot time.
If you have nvidia-persistence set it to manual.
It’s in yast2-services manager.

You forgot the .service
at the end
Like so:
`systemctl status nvidia-powerd.service`
That’s why I told you to lookup in yast2 much simplier.
I reinstall proprietary nvidia driver and here is the services. There is no nvidia-powerd service I can see.
Also, when I wait a few minutes, the system reboot itself without me touching it.
When you made the file did you make it executable?
If so, then it didn’t work.
If not, it may work if you do.

It’s fine you don’t need it. when you made the text file in /etc/modprobe.d, did you do the dracut -f --regenerate-all to rebuild the initramfs?
If you did and it didn’t work, try disabling all the nvidia.service.
I had an old card that has a suspend problem when those are enabled.
I forgot that step, I now gave it chmod 777 but does not work unfortunately.
Yes, I did the last step. I also tried disabling the nvidia services, but it ended up just unable to go to sleep, it went to login screen.
I feel that the issue is nvidia driver not working properly.
