Cannot update the system

Hi,

While I try to update my system… I keep having issues with the OSS repository. I keep getting the following error

linux-681c:/home/melvin # zypper update

Note: OSS OFFICI.AL is the alias name I have given to the repository… earlier I couldn’t add the OSS repository in YaST > software repositories because the same path kept failing everytime I tried to add the OSS repository

You have a network problem

I’m guessing you can navigate the repos in a browser?

That’s an IPv6 address, most probably you can not use those.

All the other repositories got added… the issue is with the OSS repository…

However I can access Index of /distribution/12.1/repo/oss/suse/setup/descr in my browser… no issues…

Is there any setting to be changed with regard to IPv6?

http://forums.opensuse.org/how-faq-read-only/unreviewed-how-faq/412555-disable-ipv6.html

This is what I thought I’ll have to do after I read robin’s post… woooooooooo… looks like I’m catching up in my common sense…

common sense didn’t work. There is a file called packages.gz in the repository. The size is around 7MB. The download fails halfway with this file…

Does it print any error?

Hi I am having the same issue with openSUSE 12.2 64 bit when I want to install something yast hang at ‘http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.1/repo/oss/suse/setup/descr/packages.gz’: when opening the software management, it is always with the repo oss in the same file packages.gz, is there a solution for this topic

I have disabled ipv6

it is only with the oss repos, if I disable the oss the other repos refresh fine

thanks

Can you manually download that file?

problem solved using

Index of /pub/Linux/openSUSE/distribution/12.2/repo/oss/suse

instead of default oss

This means that the redirector (the default address is actually a
redirector) gives you a broken mirror. Which one will probably be listed
on the logs ("/var/log/YaST2/y2log*"). If you find out which you should
report the issue to openSUSE (not the forums). I don’t give the exact
link because I have not found it.

This is the site and the exact package

http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.1/repo/oss/suse/setup/descr/packages.gz’:

I will report it but where?

No, that’s not the site. That’s the redirector. You find the site from
looking at logs, hopefully.

Redirector

Perhaps admin at opensuse.org
