Hello,
I installed LibreOffice with an rpm loaded from the official Libreoffice website. I try to uninstall it to install the new version, but
yum uninstall libreoffice*
shows me the actions, but does not delete it. Additionally, I got the message:
RPMDB was modified by an application other than yum.
Is it possible to understand what is happening?
Sincerely,
J.M.
Yum is a Fedora/Red Hat package manager. Are you, in fact, using OpenSUSE?
Yeah, I suspect it was. Yum is the old RedHat/Fedora package manager, openSUSE uses zypper by default. Although dnf is an option, if users so wish.
Do you really need to uninstall LO before installing an upgraded version? As I recall, it is not necessary as LO simply over-writes itself. I could be wrong, but I have upgraded LO many times and never had to uninstall first.

Yes I use it. Solely to provide assistance on Libre Office for users of this system.
openSUSE uses zypper by default.
Ok, zypper works to uninstall. But cannot install with it.
So i used rpm.
All works fine now…
Thanks
I had a big problem with confusion between two overlapping versions (a long time ago!) and since then I have always uninstalled.
Yes! And what you are doing is probably much safer than what I do. Fear not – my turn will come and I will have to change my bad habit.
Hi Jeanmi2403,
You do know that Leap 15.3 is long out of support, don’t you?
Even if you don’t (have to) care, we should hope the users of “this system” don’t have to rely on such an outdated system for anything productive?
Otherwise I’d urgently recommend to upgrade. Even 15.4 is now EOL, 15.5 is current state.
Although 15.3 is out of support, the main repo containing libre office is still available. So, it seems to be configured seriously wrong. If you are interested in repairing, updating or (better) doing a fresh and clean install, you may check here:
