Cannot shutdown PC, always reboot

Hi all,

I’m running latest BIOS on Gigabyte Z370HD3 and only under Tumbleweed (tried Windows just to check if it works) the system does not shutdown at all.
No matter if I do it from terminal or from KDE it just keeps rebooting instead of shutdown.

I run journalctl -b-1 and the only errors I’m getting during boot are listed below:

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks

Several of those reference ATA, where apparently you have Toshiba and a WD storage devices of some ATA kind in addition to an OCZ. If you boot with only the device hosting TW attached and powered, are you able to shutdown normally?

ACPI errors are usually either the BIOS’ or kernel’s fault.
Make sure your BIOS and kernel are both latest version.

I found this AskUbuntu solution that may help!

Both BIOS and updates are up to date.

Not really, same it doesn’t power off.

I see, did you try booting with the kernel commandline option libata.noacpi=1?

I tried also no luck. Revert to old kernel as well nothing happens, same problem.

Which kernel did you revert to?
Also, try some live ISOs (TW, Fedora, Debian, etc.) and see if the problem can be reproduced there.

It is also happening with rescuezilla and Debian that I tried. What on earth is going on?
With Windows as I mentioned it is turn off fine.

I do not really know, but I once had a system that acted the same. It had something to do with a BIOS setting in the hibernate/sleep/power save/WOL area.

But I admit that I do not understand why it does not happen with Windows.
