Cannot set split view on dolphin either as user root or as normal user ( using dolphin super user mode )

  1. Clicking on the split icon in the menu bar make dolphin to close immediately
  2. In the dolphin configuration panel
  • Interface / Folder & Tabs / last line : New window → clicking on the checkbox “Begin in split view mode” make dolphin to close immediately when clicking on ‘Apply’ button

Any help is welcome.

The same with a fresh user?

This contradicts itself.

Also do you see anything when starting from terminal:
dolphin

1°) Using : Interface / Folder & Tabs / last line : New window → clicking on the checkbox “Begin in split view mode” make dolphin to close immediately when clicking on ‘Apply’ button

dolphin

KCrash: Application ‘dolphin’ crashing… crashRecursionCounter = 2
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

2°) Using Clicking on the split icon in the menu bar make dolphin to close immediately

dolphin

KCrash: Application ‘dolphin’ crashing… crashRecursionCounter = 2
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

There is no problem with a normal user.
Only problem for user ‘root’ or normal user using dolphin super user mode

This is what I get when using dolphin as root:

The wayland QPA plugin is currently handling it by setting the parent to the topmost grabbing popup. Note, however, that this may cause positioning errors and popups closing unxpectedly. Please fix the transient parent of the popup.

A little bit more as yours?

Maybe switching to wayland?

I am trying to reinstall leap 16 from scratch without using the opensuse-migration-tool.
I will give news as soon as possible.

Thank you for helping.
