Can no longer mount (with Device Notifier) camera after reinstall

I had to do a complete reinstall of LEAP15.2 + KDE desktop.

After the reinstall, which went smoothly, I found that the Device Notifier no longer offered the option “open in FileManager”.when I tried to hook-up my camera. The only option provided was using gwenview -and that even did not work.

So all the hardware (laptop, camera) has remained the same and I reinstalled using the same 15.2 version from the same USB-stick, but the end result is not!
When I plug-oni another device, e.g. external USB disk, that one is recognised and I get the “OPen in File Manager” options in Device Notifier.

I have no idea how to tackle this problem.

Suggestions are very welcome.

Are you sure this is due to the new installation?
It could also be that you changed something in your camera, like setting it to PTP instead of mass-storage.

Check that the requisite KDE KIO packages are installed…

zypper se -si kio

In particular, the ‘kio-extras5’ and ‘kio_kamera’ packages.

If that checks out, run the following command in a terminal…

udevadm monitor

then plug the camera in and observe/capture the output.

Yes, I am 100% sure. My camera ((Nikon D850) doesn’t even have such a switch. Furthermore, when I hook-up my camera to my other laptop, which fortunately still runs 15.1, there are no problems at all.

This gave the solution! Neither kio-extras5 nor kio-kamera was installed. After correcting this, I could connect my camera again.
Thanks a lot!
