can I use the desktop with windows 7 as printer server while the laptop with openSUSE as client

I’m just curious can I use the desktop as printer server while the laptop as the client? Because there’s only one printer in my house and that’s for the desktop. The printer is HP 2400 series, The desktop’s OS is Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and the laptop’s OS is dual boot windows 7 ultimate x64 and openSUSE 13.2 x64.

Yes, you can. Most users would choose the samba protocol to do this

A good guide on what is needed at the Windows end (to make the printer available)

It is possible to set up an IPP server (on the Windows machine) as well, but this involves a little more work, so samba may be easier to implement.

This Archwiki page gives a good overview

Yes, aware of that one too. Google is your friend.

Thanks for your advice.
