can get wireless to activate

i have a fresh install of OpenSuse 11.0 on my Toshiba Laptop. So far, I love it.

One challenge I am having is with WLan. I cannot get the system to configure the settings I create.

I have installed ndiswrapper and madwifi to cover my bases. Then attempted to reconfigure with yast but still no success.

I get a “Download (curl) error” for the opensuse KDE4 repository EVERYTIME I attempt to set this up.

I have done everything I can think to update the repositories.

Strangely, when I go to the network manager it says that the WLan’s status is Disconnected. However, it is plugged in and lit up. In windows it works fine on the same machine (dual boot of course).

Someone please advise me on getting my wifi to work in OpenSuse11.0

Why not open this thread in the Wireless Forum?

finally got
make
gcc
kernal-source
installed
then was able to successfully install fwcutter
and all looks good.

followed this thread: eth0 != wlan0 - openSUSE Forums

now I will reboot to see if this will work.

cheers,
