I decided to compress my drive after the install as I think slow SATA SSD may benefit from zstd compression.
I did Windows like thinking. The entire snapper like systems are based upon the fact that BTRFS auto de duplicate same files. When you do such a drastic change, every single reference becomes broken and gets converted to “real file”.
I used duperemove package with great results however it may run for days. If you ever use it, always use hash file.
The fastest solution to fix no space situation is reinstalling the OS after backing up your home. That is unless you have several changes/locally built stuff.
You can also add a temp volume to your BTRFS / and run balance etc.
