Browser does not open some websites

Hi all,
I am working in gnome.
Trying to open my kindle library at Amazon Kindle: Your free personal library you can take anywhere on Firefox, but got the message ‘Unable to Connect’. Tried with Chrome browser also but with the same message. The internet is functional.
Kindly help.
Thanks & Regards,

I have no problem when I click on the link you provide to gt a rendered page and no “Unable to connect” message.

I am of course not on Leap 15.5, which out of support, but on 15.6. Also KDE here. But I think that is not crucial for your problem.

Can you do this:

henk@boven:~> telnet read.amazon.in 80
Trying 3.251.217.163...
Connected to read.amazon.in.
Escape character is '^]'.

You will have to break this off by doing Ctrl-C.

No problem here too on a 15.5 VM using Firefox and Gnome, so not a general problem.

Hi,
but the problem persists for me. What is Ctrl-C suppose to do?

Just a means to break the telnet session.

Hi @rsp2

The URL stated works fine for me (openSUSE Leap 15.6, Mozilla Firefox ESR, DSL connection, Germany location, no VPN or such).

This problem reminds me to Not able to browse on Firefox, looks pretty similar.

What do you mean with this? Is this an answer to my suggstion in post #3?

Then where is it. When people suggest commands here, they expect that you copy/paste your execution of it in an answering post. So that every body can see what happened.
Now we still do not know what happened.

Have you somehow changed your Browser User Agent, knowingly or unknowingly?

The link is working for me in Firefox but if I try curl, a empty file is the result, so likely the site is picky on Browser UA.

Hi,
Thanks everyone. I have reinstalled the system and it is working well now.
