The cups driver needs the lpr driver.

But you need also glibc-32bit and libusb-0_1-4-32bit and libusb-1_0-0-32bit

I installed the Brother HL-1112 from the following page: https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c=de&lang=de&prod=hl1112_us_eu

I created a document in OnlyOffice, printed the document successfully but the printed text is blurry. I use standard A4-size paper.

Maybe an application specific issue? Try a test print from CUPS using a browser…
localhost:631/printers
Select the printer of interest then ‘Maintenance’ > ‘Print Test Page’

Alternatively via the lpr command, print an image…

Use

lpstat -t

to get the printer name, then

lpr -P <printer_name> /path/to/your.pdf

Is the print output ok in these circumstances?

It’s an application-specific problem as I printed a pdf document I received and the output was pretty sharp. I then printed the document I created using OnlyOffice using the lpr -P HL-1110-series “/home/mamunson/Documents/cv.pdf” command and it came out blurry. I then created another document using OnlyOffice and the print output was pretty sharp. I think the use of the text areas in my previous OnlyOffice document is causing the issue. Not sure what to do here.

I would submit a bug report. FWIW, I did find the following issue reported

BTW, I’m interested to know why you use OnlyOffice as opposed to LibreOffice? Some features you like? I’m not familiar with the former.

For example, in LibreOffice, I create a text box, insert my text and then when I try to insert an image before the text, I’m unable to do so. In OnlyOffice I can insert the image without a problem and can resize it.
