Boot problem with SLED 11

hello everyone…
i’ve just downloaded Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 from novell as an iso and then burned it to a DVD
i’ve set my bios conig. to 1st boot from the cd/dvd driver
but when i insert the SLED DVD and reboot, the computer kept bootin from the H.D.
while when insertin sm other bootable dvds it boots from them right away
and when i used a virtual box it booted well and i checked the DVD and installed the system and used it…
now i reallhy need to install that system on my machine…any ideas ??
thanks alot

What happens during the boot process? Do you see it try the CD/DVD? Does
this DVD work in other systems when it comes to making them boot?

Good luck.

this is the openSUSE forum…the correct place to find the most folks
well familiar with SLED is in http://tinyurl.com/5lcm75 (as noted by
another poster)…

however: since you say other bootable DVDs boot correctly, i have to
assume the SLED DVD is defective and therefore GUESS you need to
check the md5sum of the iso before you burn the disk, and also check
the burned disk’s media prior to beginning the install process,
similar to the hints given within this thread: http://tinyurl.com/6jwtg9

said thread probably contains a LOT of info specific to openSUSE 11.1
and is NOT directly applicable either openSUSE 11.0 nor to the
commercial SLED 11 you are testing…

you do know that SLED and openSUSE are two different (but related)
operating systems, don’t you?

if you intended to tryout openSUSE you should fetch that from
http://software.opensuse.org/
