Boot Error

I have the problem that when I booted up the error “Maximum Number of X displays failures reache: check X server log for errors” occured.
I have an Intel chipset family.
Does anyone know the problem?

Many greetings,
Jural

try

sax2 -r -m 0=intel

or

sax2 -r -m 0=vesa

both dont work:
“Could not load file…”

Is this after an initial installation? If so, try using the xorg.conf.install file. You can do that by:

cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.install /etc/X11/xorg.conf

… that will give a poor resolution and poor performance, but you may be able to get X windows that way.

before the errors it has been working, then I switched to windows and then the error occured

What did you do in Linux before you switched to Windows?

Did you read the suggested pages? Did you run the sax2 command as root?

yes i did it as root

before I switched i installed skype and updates for gimp

Sounds like you may have a damaged file system.Try running repair from the installation media and check the file system.

I’ve re-installed suse
now it works

In case your previous problem came from using a cutting edge app that you should not have, may I recommend you restrict your software package manager repositories to only the following four: OSS, Non-OSS, Update and Packman. Just those 4. No others. None. Only add another long enough to install any essential application from the “other” and then disable any others. Only keep the 4 recommended.
