Bluetooth went out -- blueman-manager won't start

bluetooth had been working fine for months. Now completely stopped working. No defined cause; could be after some updates. Here’s some info below. blueman-manager will not start as shown below even after re-install.

Additional tries at solution:

I reloaded all the rtl* firmware and kernel modules and rebooted. blueman-manager still won’t start.

I reverted back in a timeshift snapshot to a date when I am certain bluetooth was running and it still didn’t run and blueman-manager still won’t start.

Might be bigger problem; no sound at all from test in yast-sound. Got to look deeper.

I think itis playing the wrong device. Should be analog-stereo. How might I change that?

(base) tom@mydesktop: ~ $ pactl list short sinks
48 alsa_output.pci-0000_01_00.1.hdmi-stereo PipeWire s32le 2ch 48000Hz RUNNING
54 alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-stereo.2 PipeWire s32le 2ch 48000Hz SUSPENDED

Can you try to add this to a new file /etc/modprobe.d/90-usb.conf

options usbcore use_both_schemes=y

Restart.
Does it work?

Other problem:

yast-sound

depreceated for years.

I ran

(base) tom@mydesktop: ~ $ pactl set-default-sink alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-stereo.2

Did a reboot and sound was again active. Only in wired headphones and bluetooth situation was unchanged. I was beginning to think my sound card had failed. Will run additional suggested items.

thanks, tom kosvic

Otherwise use a script in autostart.
I use a script in autostart for years to create a loopback device, first with pulseaudio, now with pipewire.

Add line in modprobe file and did reboot. No perceived changes. Still have sound in wired headphones.

blueman-manager still does not start. Did run or a long period. It does throw different errors now.

(base) tom@mydesktop: ~ $ blueman-manager

Make any sense to anyone?

I am back running bluetooth headphones but through an unusual means. Per @Sauerland suggestion, I looked at bluetooth in bios. It was disabled. I had it that way because I went over to a usb bluetooth adapter that had been working fine. Then, I did the opposite of what was recommended. I enabled bluetooth on mb, rebooted, then again disabled it.

After that, blueman-manager started fine and found my wireless headphones and is now working. I guess the recycling of mb bluetooth was important even though I did it in the opposite sequence and I wasn’t using it.

thanks, tom kosvic
