Hi,
I’m running Tumbleweed since about a month on a HP ZBook Ultra 14 G1a. Initially bluetooth worked fine, but I haven’t used it in a couple of weeks and now the adapter can no longer be found. I have tried:
Rebooting
Booting some older snapshots (as late as Sep 3)
Reinstalling some bluetooth stuff (zypper in --force bluez bluez-auto-enable-devices)
Some, hopefully, relevant info:
~ bluetoothctl show
No default controller available
~ sudo hwinfo |grep -E "blue|Blue|BLUE"
[sudo] password for root:

I believe the first log is related to the webcam not yet having Linux support so I think that can be ignored here (I have seen that message since day one).
Any ideas?

I’m sorry, I’m a bit new here. What is the right way of installing an older kernel? I only have 6.16.1 and 6.16.3 installed.
And thank you for looking into this.

It looks like bluetooth is correctly initializing if I compare it with my own log where BT is working fine. After these lines you get some lines like:
bluetoothd[1649]: src/plugin.c:init_plugin() System does not support admin plugin
bluetoothd[1649]: src/plugin.c:init_plugin() System does not support bap plugin
bluetoothd[1649]: src/plugin.c:init_plugin() System does not support bass plugin
But that is the same for me.
A line that I see in my log but not in yours is:
kernel: Bluetooth: MGMT ver 1.23
Not sure if that is the problem nor how to fix ti.
does it work, when you boot in kernel 6.16.1?
Hit e at Grub and goto the entry with Kernel 6.16.1 and hit F10

No, it doesn’t work with the 6.16.1 kernel. I’ve figured out how to boot other kernels that are installed, but I don’t know how to install more kernel versions.
Add the Repo:
zypper ar -f https://download.opensuse.org/history/20250815/tumbleweed/repo/oss/ Tumbleweed-Repo
Now go to Myrlyn, search for kernel-default, mark in the right field kernel-default, goto Version and add kernel-default 6.15.8 by marking it.

As Sauerland hinted at, an apparent firmware issue (or possible kernel regression)…
Bluetooth: hci0: Execution of wmt command timed out
Bluetooth: hci0: Failed to send wmt patch dwnld (-110)
Bluetooth: hci0: Failed to set up firmware (-110)
What is reported by the following commands?
ls /lib/firmware/mediatek/
zypper se -si kernel-firmware-mediatek
A bug report might be needed to help progress this
Also post, executed as User:
bluetoothctl show

So add the Repo and install the kernel.
reboot and choose this kernel in grub,
Interesting. FWIW, Slowroll is still using

Yes, I’ve done that now and it’s still not working. Same output from sudo journalctl -b -p 0..3.

Can I roll back to that? Reverting to kernel versions 6.15.8 didn’t do anyting and I think that is the kernel version I was on when it was last working.
Try to install the kernel-firmware-mediatek from the Tumbleweed-history Repo and reboot in that old kernel 6.15, Firmware is also a older one.
