Still works under windows.
No plug and play devices connected: it didn’t help.
reinstalled a 2 months old backup: it didn’t help.
The software starts and activates the webcam, the light indicator tells the camera works properly but there is no image. Cheese gives after a minute an error message.
Incredible but true, knows somebody something about that?
Well, I understand the limit in a professional assistance and this time I will assist myself keeping you informed.lol!
FACT:
The webcam looks to be in order under Linux while working normally with Google Hangout. I must still check if that is true also by Opensuse.
There is not a Skype bug because the problem subsist with other Linux webcam software.
FACT:
By checking by other relevant distributions I found the same problem. In this case our distribution calls such problems “main stream problems” and …
A turnaround seams to be necessary and I installed the “evergreen” version of Kubuntu: they also use KDE and dispose with the huge Ubuntu experience.
CONSIDERATION:
I can say that this BisonCam NB Pro is basically used in laptop leds, and most such laptops use now days the optimus technology.
I had to stop updating kernel, bumblebee and nvidia drivers while such updates were ruinous. However the last update keeps at least the intel graphic card alive. Broken graphic card, broken webcam, broken yast software update while at lest on my system an unattended update seems to be impossible and that is not all. The only codename I could suggest looking at my installation is “Quasimodo”. The question was: what can I do for my Quasimodo? The next possibility was install the kernel updates killing deliberately the nvidia graphic.
FACT:
Now the nvidia graphic is dead and the webcam works. For the moment I will pay such a price because Opensuse is great by other peculiarities.
CONCLUSION:
Optimus is a great tecnology: saves money, saves resources, saves power, saves laptop weight. Opensuse should finally find a real solution for this technology. I discourage some moderators to justify the “Optimus bug” with arguments belonging rather to the politics world. I am talking about defamation of this technology.
REMARK:
Of course that is just a sad turnaround, don’t forget that the webcam works 100% under Google Hangout!
