i have a new install of 11.1. at times, i find avahi-daemon using 100% cpu. not certain when this actually starts, but it may be after switching from run-level 1 to 5. i go to run-level 1 to start a tape backup script and the script restarts level 5 when done. any ideas?

Just out of curiosity is runlevel 1 really needed will runlevel 3 do
instead, runlevel 1 is a very very minimal runlevel and really only useful
for diagnostics IIRC, probably when you jump to 5 there are things not being
initialised enough and causing avahi to have a wobbler?

it was just a thought, plus don`t forget that the system ( avahi and such )
are a little more integrated now and maybe are not very good at coming up
from runlevel 1 to 5 as it used to in the 10 series ( did 10 use avahi, I
cannot remember when avahi started to be used by default and I have been
using since version 4 or maybe 5 IIRC )
Anyway as I said it was just a thought probably will not make any difference
and I will have to eat worms
