Automount and funny names in /media

Hi folks.

I’d like to know whether:

  1. is it possible to control the dir names of the automounted disk partitions (aka in /media/.hal-mtab)
  2. is it possible to control which disk devices (basically internal/external SATA and USB) should be automatically mounted and which should not ?

Wanna get rid of multiple directory names for mounting points in /media.
