Automatic updates and ZFS

Hi,

I’m looking into setting up openSUSE Leap 16 and running ZFS from the filesystem repo.
I also intend to use os-update.

In order to have a stable, functioning setup I would like to know the following:
Is there
a) some coordination between published kernel updates and the availability of a corresponding zfs package?
or
b) some way to hold back kernel updates until a corresponding zfs package is available?

I couldn’t find any tangible information on this (even though I would imagine that this should be quiet a common problem), so any hints or recommendations on how to approach this would be greatly appreciated

You could at least explain where this zfs package comes from.

I am under the impression, that I did that?
But to be quite specific. I am talking about this thing, which is documented here.

No, I am afraid there is no way to synchronize kernel updates and the corresponding zfs updates. Interesting is that Tumbleweed repository is actually built against Factory, not Tumbleweed. Which means it probably is available earlier than Tumbleweed snapshot. But it cannot be guaranteed.

No that I am aware of.

The ZFS for Leap 16 repo is not shown in the downloads page, but it seems to be available anyway.
Check State of 16.0 for filesystems / zfs - openSUSE Build Service and https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/filesystems/16.0/

@notsoran.domuser Yes, I already saw that, thank you.

@arvidjaar Thank you for your answer. I still can’t quiet wrap my head around this, since I would assume that I’m not the only one with this problem.

But I think I’m just gonna use something else, if this option is not available in a way I find acceptable for my usecase.
