Audio issues on an ASUS laptop

Does anyone know about why my audio sounds fine on Windows but not openSUSE? my laptop is an ASUS TP500LN. i think it has something to do with the fact that it uses Maxxaudio or SonicMaster or whatever they call it, but i have no idea. Thanks for your time.

Welcome to openSUSE Forums.

The SonicMaster/MaxxAudio software is probably part of the difference. Those Windows utilities apply DSP/EQ processing that can make the laptop’s small speakers sound much better.

I assume that it is otherwise working as expected?

EasyEffects might help with equalization:

OK, do you know what settings i should use in EasyEffects? But yeah, other than the fact that it sounds better and louder in Windows, yeah it’s working fine

I don’t have direct experience with using it, but just a suggestion I’ve seen previously for audiophiles with good audio cards. I’d start with the Equalizer and Bass Enhancer, and see how that goes.

Ok, thank you!
