Audio devices gone

Hi,

today, I have installed the updates from this week including Kernel 6.0.3 (I had kernel 6.0.2 or 6.0.1 in the past). After rebooting, my device (Lenovo thinkpad Gen 9) says, that no input or output audio devices were found :-(. The audio symbol shows a red line over the speaker.
Has anyone else problems like this?

Best,

Michael

Yes, the 6.0.3 kernel broke audio for several users:

Fix is on the way…

@Tannigton: Thanks!

When I’m choosing the “old” 6.0.2 kernel when booting, the audio is fine.

Michael

Short question: is the audio working again with 6.0.5-1.1?
I do not want to update the kernel and loose the old working kernel 6.0.2 from my installation.

Best,

Michael

There are reports that it is now working OK, but I’m unable to confirm that myself.

edit zypp’s config file:

“multiversion.kernels = latest,latest-1,running” in “/etc/zypp/zypp.conf”

Add “oldest” which will preserve the oldest kernel, which you can then boot from if you find audio still not working.

Thanks for the info with the modification of the zypp.conf.
I have directly made it and also added “latest-2” to keep one further old kernel.

There are no audio problems with kernel 6.0.5 anymore :-).

Best

Michael

When in doubt you can lookup to this https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Keep_multiple_kernel_versions
