Audio conversion to mp3

Hi Everyone,

I just would like to know how can I make mp3’s from normal audio cd’s? What program should I use and what codecs do I need to install?

Thanks

H

k3b if you have it installed will do it nicely

or jripper from the Packman repo

Or Audex (for kde4) is really nice.

Hi

I may be a little bit old-fashioned, but I use cdparanoia to rip to *.wav and then convert to *.mp3 with lame. Further processing in between can be done with sox.

This may be easily incorporated into a bash script to automate the process.

I wish I’d suggested that. By far the best way
Also a good way to make a script that turns all your nasty .wma files into mp3’s or ogg’s

I have spent too long in the land of the gui :frowning:

Hi,

I thanks again everyone, I got it right by using K3B. It is a fantastic program. It need an additional codec to make mp3’s, so I downloaded it, and it works 100%, I also use Audacity which is a great program to edit mp3’s, ogg’s and waves.

H

k3b is indeed excellent.
The essentials are really that you use Packman packaged k3b and k3b-codecs
Well done getting it sorted

Daniusoft MP3 WAV Converter, it’s free

Dear henkasdf,
I have the same problem.
Cold you tell me what package did you install to solve the problem?
many thanks in advance

k3b and k3b-codecs from Packman
But what version of openSUSE are you using?

I am using 11.2/kde.
I installed the codecs. Also the one mentioned in the error configuration message that pops up by the start of k3b (mad).
But anyway. the message remains et dealing with mp3 is still impossible.

Please post the result of this

rpm -qi k3b k3b-codecs
