ATI problem

I installed the ATI drivers according to the howto. I then changed my settings and my screen went black during the preview then back to normal. I tried again and this time screen didn’t go black. I kept these settings and after restarting my computer the screen turns black while booting, everything except the mouse pointer. This means i can’t see to login and possibly change the settings back. Any suggestions on what went wrong or how to fix it? Thank you.

Hi
You can login as your user from the console and get back to a base
driver for your video by pressing ctrl+alt+F1, then run the following;

su -
init 3
sax2 -r -m 0=vesa
init 5 && exit
ctrl+alt+F1
exit
ctrl+alt+F7

The last command gets you back to the GUI.

Thanks I’m trying this though I’m a bit confused. I’ll try doing this in Grub, after i select OpenSuse I can’t see anything so I don’t think i’m supposed to use it then. But I’ll try everything and let you know

I tried once and it did some stuff but when i got back to the gui it was still black.

When your at the black screen that’s when you press the ctrl+alt+F1 key
combination. You can also enter the number 3 (just the number nothing
else) in the grub boot options at the bottom of the screen before the
system starts.
