I’ve switched from Fedora to tumbleweed a couple of weeks ago and so far I’m really happy with it. Most important benefice is that secure boot with nvidia driver work out of the box, on Fedora you have some hack to make it work.
My today issue, not really an issue though, as system is working perfectly fine, is that on every boot, just after systemd-boot entry selection, message appear on top left of my screen and prevent splash to fully hide boot process.
Attached are the message.
My system is an HP Z2 Tower G4 PC, with an I7 8700, and a RTX 4060 graphic card.
I can just ignore message and system has no issue at all, but for the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor), i would like to have same boot as Fedora did … eg a splash screen only without any shell message…
Does someone have any clue to avoid these message on every boot?
I have similar (and even more of them) since years on HP desktops with Leap.
I remember asked about them long ago here in the forums. The general answer was: error in the BIOS, should be cured by a firmware update. I changed at least one system to a new one in the mean time. Same result. So I just ignore them. But if someone here has a better idea, I am listening here also
Nice, I just tried it. Instead of the black screen with the errors, it first becomes complete dark and then the Grub menu with the “loading” overlay reappears (I have no Plymouth). Strange to see for the first time, but I got rid of the errors.
