Amazon Prime is not working in any browser. Firefox says ‘Video unavailable’ and Chromium says error 7218. Please help me out.
most likely it’s the broken ffmpeg-4 libraries see
https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/532411-Lost-support-for-H-264-video-in-browsers
a fix for Firefox is to remove libavcodec58 and libavformat58 which will downgrade chromium
I’d recommend removing chromium for the time being as any update to chromium will install libavcodec58 and libavformat58 which will break Firefox
you can watch the forums for when a fix comes out
chrome should work as it comes with it’s own ffmpeg for the time being vivaldi works too
Like whenever I give ‘zypper update’ command gives below output.
The following 31 package updates will NOT be installed:
ffmpeg-3 gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-bad-lang k3b k3b-lang libavcodec57 libavdevice57 libavfilter6 libavformat57 libavresample3 libavutil55
libgstadaptivedemux-1_0-0 libgstbadaudio-1_0-0 libgstbadbase-1_0-0 libgstbadvideo-1_0-0 libgstbasecamerabinsrc-1_0-0 libgstcodecparsers-1_0-0 libgstgl-1_0-0
libgstmpegts-1_0-0 libgstphotography-1_0-0 libgsturidownloader-1_0-0 libgstwayland-1_0-0 libmjpegutils-2_0-0 libpostproc54 libquicktime0 libsox3 libswresample2
libswscale4 mjpegtools sox vlc-codec-gstreamer
So as per your advice I need to remove chromium then run above again will fix the issue ?
a recent chromium update installed libavcodec58, libavformat58 etc from the update repo these libraries do not support the patented restricted formats
there is no way to fix the current version of chromium you can either go back to an earlier version (if it’s still in the repos) or use chrome
you should uninstall the ffmpeg-4 libraries
zypper rm libavcodec58 libavdevice58 libavdevice58 libavfilter7 libavformat58 libavresample4 libavutil56 libpostproc55 libswresample3 libswscale5
this should give you an option to either install an earlier version of chromium or remove it now if you install an earlyer version any future updates will reinstall these packages so I recommend uninstalling chromium too (for the time being) so do
zypper rm libavcodec58 libavdevice58 libavdevice58 libavfilter7 libavformat58 libavresample4 libavutil56 libpostproc55 libswresample3 libswscale5 chromium
after removing the above libraries Firefox will work you can also install chrome from google
https://www.google.com/linuxrepositories/
you can keep an aye on this page
http://packman.links2linux.org/package/ffmpeg-4
for when (and if) packman builds ffmpeg-4 for LEAP 42.3 currently they have problems building it as some of the dependencies can not be satisfied but as SLE 12 and LEAP 42.3 have had their life span increased up to june next year I’m betting the packman maintainers will do their best to fix this
