Alsa mixer substitute for use with an esi juli@

I recently installed an esi juil@ PCI sound card. It uses a 1724 chip. Alsamixer shows it’s controls but it’s console application, cursor driven.

I installed alsamixer-gui but it latches onto the sound card on my motherboard and doesn’t seem to have the facility to switch between sound card cards. The console app can.

Any suggestions for an alternative?

I tried Qamixer but it looks to have a long way to go.

The 1724 chip has been around for some time but the alsa people don’t seem to want to be bothered with it. Alsa tools just refuses to run as soon as it checks the chip. If a patch exists I suspect I would need to speak German to find it.

I have wondered what comes with the Jack-gui package but again it might not like the chip. Oddly under windows the driver includes similar patch cord abilities.

Use the -c switch to switch card numbers with alsamixergui - run it from
a CLI with “-h” for the syntax.

You can get the ID number from alsamixer itself by pressing F6.
