This has nothing to do with the operating system or SAMBA. Your battery could be empty.
Press F2 and enter the correct time and select something like “Exit and save settings”.
But if the battery is empty indeed, this will happen again and again until you change it.

thanks for reply

i removed battery now

Apparently your system didn’t shut down correctly.
Now your partition filesystems are checked and repaired if neccessary.

This can take a while, just let it run.

only this screen

???

Try to press ESC or Ctrl+Alt+F1.
What do you see then?

Try to select failsafe or “recovery mode” at the boot menu (this may be hidden behind “Advanced options”), do you get a Login Screen then?

What did you actually do to install/setup SAMBA?
What openSUSE version is this? (looks a bit older judging from the boot splash)

thanks again

Sorry, on your first picture I can’t see anything wrong. You should show the lines at the bottom.

If you press Ctrl+Alt+F1, do you get a login prompt in text mode?
Can you login there?

Your failed SAMBA configuration should not cause anything like this. Except if you disabled vital system services in YaST->Runlevel Editor (picture #4 in that tutorial).

Or enabled domain authentication, not workgroup… Not probable, as it
is not covered in that document.

possible :dont-know: ???

Hm, so it is just hanging while fscking your home partition it seems.
Maybe your hard disk is dying?

Do you get to a different screen (with kernel messages) if you press Ctrl+Alt+F10?
If yes, please post a screenshot.

If not, try to append “init=/bin/sh” to the boot options (just type that in at the boot menu)
You should get a shell prompt then.
Enter “fsck.ext4 -fpv /dev/sda3” and wait (don’t get impatient, this could take a while depending on your hard disk size).
If it seems to hang or aborts with an error, please post a screenshot.

i tired and this too

OK, so your hard disk seems to be ok now.
Does it boot now? I suppose not.

Well, then I guess because of the flat battery some BIOS settings got changed which cause the hang (maybe something ACPI related?).
Maybe have a look in there and play around with some settings.

Or try to add “acpi=off” to the boot options. Does it boot then?

Could you try to boot 12.2 from a LiveCD/USB? Does it hang then as well?
If not, I think the easiest would be to just re-install.
You could try to “Update an existing installation”, maybe that would already fix it and you wouldn’t have to bother with all the settings.

I tried “acpi=off” and “Update an existing installation” :bad:

I think the easiest would be to just re-install. YES [seems to be the only solution]

Thanks alot wolfi323 :shake:
