After AMDGPU-PRO not desktop environment

Hello,

I’ve installed amdgpu-pro drivers on my RYZEN 5 PRO 4650U notebook. For that I’ve added the two repositories of amdgpu and amdgpu-pro into zypper’s repo list. To solve the libffi.so.7 dependancy I’ve also added the pharo language repository, if thats relevant.

With that I was able to install amdgpu-pro driver without an issue.

After the installation I rebooted, but opensuse tumbleweed doesn’t go into the graphical environment anymore. It stays at the console vt-1. I can’t see any problems in the boot logs, but also I’m not sure on where to look.

Here are some more information:

#: systemctl get-default

#: uname -a

#: cat /etc/os-release

Thanks you so much for helping.

AMD provides drivers for Leap, not for TW. Use open drivers from distribution.
In theory you can compile AMD proprietary drivers for TW, but supposedly you will gain nothing from using them.
BTW, install Rusticl driver to get OpenCL support.

I went down that same route, so I started only using Distrobox to not mess up my system.

ROCm / HIP cookbook for any distro! Tested with Blender and Stable Diffusion on Tumbleweed with AMD Radeon 7600

AMDVLK is available for TW (but outdated):

https://software.opensuse.org/package/amdvlk

You can install RADV & AMDVLK both and switch between them.
IDK about other stuff.
