After the upgrade from 12.2 to 12.3, playing a WAV file no longer works. Message:
/usr/lib/gst-install-plugins-helper requires an additional plugin for this operation
Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) demuxer
Searching for the plugin always fails.
This was no problem in v12.2: videos played.
I followed the links given in the “sticky” notes, added the repos, did the update. No change.
Where do I find the magic dust?
I would make sure I had these files loaded in YaST from Packman:

I did that. It did not solve the problem. Manually adding one of the above listed plugins did restore the functionality I was expecting.
It may be the file “gstreamer-plugins-libav”, which used to get pulled in as a prerequisite but fails to do that now I think. I have setup several openSUSE 12.3 PC’s and found this file missing and on two occasions I ended up with two Flash files loaded, rendering it not functional in Firefox. It seems like each load is slightly different making it hard to fill in the gaps in the proper multimedia setup procedure.
