A Problem with Nvidia Driver

I’m running openSuse 10.3 and recently I installed the Nvidia driver “x11-video-nvidiaG01” for my GeForce 9600GT. I discovered that whenever I used multimedia software the hard drive showed activity even when the computer was idle. For example, if I put a CD or DVD in the optical drive and took it directly back out, the hard drive activity light came on and stayed on.

The only way of bringing the system back to normal was to reboot. Logging out and back in again didn’t stop the excessive HD activity.

Eventually I had to reinstall openSuse 10.3. I am now operating without the Nvidia driver - despite the noisy fan.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could suggest a possible solution, please.

I have already contacted Nvidia support and was told that the problem was most likely with sax2 or some other configuration.

Many Thanks

Sounds more like the activity is from Beagle, indexing your system.

Seriously doubt the NVidia driver has anything to do with it.
