4318 slow with WEP

I have the infamous Broadcom 4318 wireless card. Thanks to this forum I have it running in openSUSE 11.

However, when I connect to my home network, it is really slow.
My wireless is
Managed
WEP 128
hidden SSID

I can connect to open networks and it works fine.

Any suggestions?

forgot to mention i turned off IPV6 in Firefox and in YAST
