32 bit cpu with EFI

So I want to install OpenSuse on my tablet that has x86 32 bit cpu with EFI.

I installed “grub 32 bit efi” package but this does not make the image bootable.

I have manually added a “bootia32.efi” fie on a usb in “EFI/Boot” folder and grub loaded but with no menu of course since I was only testing it.

Is there a package that would make the image to boot with efi on 32 bit cpu ?

There currently is no support for 32bit EFI in opensuse. There is feature request that support be added.

The method you are using might be your best current option. Once you get opensuse installed, you could adapt your method to boot the installed system. Or perhaps look into using “elilo”.

Thanks for your response. I think 32 bit EFI is on few devices and it may be the reason why it is not supported yet. I don’t know for sure. I’ll check elilo’s doc and when I get t my pc during this moth, I’ll try installing OpenSuse in a usb and booting it to use yast to set it for EFI if there is a setting for that.

I tried using elilo package and it is not detected as a bootloader. I will check again after some time.

Just FYI, this question doesn’t pertain to SUSE Studio, so you might want
to try the openSUSE forums’ install/boot/login forum for this type of
question in the future.
