13.2 fails to shut down / restart

This problem is recent, but started with an inability to wake up from S2R a number of times (more than I can recall). I have hard restarted each time which may have corrupted the system. Please let me know what to do. Thanks in advance.

linux 3.16.7-35-desktop
openSUSE 13.2 (Harlequin)(x86_64)

KDE Platform Version:

more specifically, 13.2 fails to shutdown/restart from the KDE desktop; it is able to shutdown/restart from the login screen. Thanks in advance.

You do know that 13.2 is past EOL and is no longer being patched?
