11.1 won't install on HP Pavilion

Hi,

I have tried to install openSUSE 11.1 i586, x64,and network install on
an HP Pavilion dv6445us laptop with no success, always aborting in
“Invalid CD repository”. The disks work on my desktops. openSUSE 11.0
installs and runs fine on the laptop.

Any thoughts?

You said the disk works fine on your desktop but did you use them for an install there? If not you should do a media check to make sure the disk is ok

Yes the disks will install fine on the desktops. i586 and x64 both.

Is that the exact error? I can’t see that anyone else has reported that. Whereabouts in the install are you when it happens?

The exact error is:

cd:/content: Invalid signature
Installation aborted

This error occurs right after the choosing “installation” after the
progress bar reaches approximately halfway.

Using the media check, the disks pass.

I think this forum question has your answer:

Invalid signature suse 11.1 DVD/CD - openSUSE Forums

Check your bios date/time…

That did it. Thanks.

Hi There,
I have tried the above mentioned things like enabling / disabling SATA but have not found any option for doing that in the BIOS
I am using HP Pavilion dv5-1002au laptop with AMD processr
While installing i get the following message and i have to stop installing the OS, since it does not go any further

The exact error is:

cd:/content: Invalid signature
Installation aborted

I have also checked the date and time but it shows the current time and date which is correct

hope some help from somebody here

Like they said, there’s a Invalid signature suse 11.1 DVD/CD - openSUSE Forums page that explains signature problems…
