Latest update 20250522-0 causes Wayland session to run very slowly. CPU is 100%
I had to log out and select Plasma X11 instead. Works normally.
I have rolled back to 20250515 snapshot and everything works fine on Wayland.
Then I have updated to the newest snapshot. It only works on X11 session.
Can only speculate a bit here. Can you share your current working graphics hardware and environment details (from Plasma X11 desktop)?
inxi -SGaz
Create a new user (while in Plasma X11 session), log out and try starting a Plasma Wayland session as the new user. Does it experience the same issue? If not, the try removing the ~/.cache of the first user, and see if that makes a difference here.
You might also try examining the journal for kwin/plasma log entries…

I have created a new user. I have experienced the same issue. I can barely move my mouse pointer.

This is strange. It is in Spanish.
I have removed .cache folder. It didn’t work.
I have to go back to X11 session to use my desktop.
I hope the next snapshot update fix this issue.
I’m not surprised. You already said a new user exhibited the same issue, so no value in doing that really. It was a test to exclude possible user desktop config issues. We have to look elsewhere for a regression.
Is the nvidia driver a possibility for you?
While waiting for others to chime in, can you also show which ‘mesa’ packages are currently installed?
zypper se -si mesa
Also, post the results from
eglinfo -B
(You may need to install the Mesa-demo-egl
package first.)

@rektal Can you check the nvidia open driver is not installed as well, since your using a Turing card, then it’s probably worth switching to that going forward as well as the libnvidia-* files…
You will find that nouveau is targeting cards older than Turing(Legacy) these days, more focus on support for Turing plus going forward with the open driver and gsp.
I have installed nvidia open driver 570.144_k6.14.6_1-2.2 and libnvidia-* files but with no success.
Wayland session is not working. I have to use X11 instead to use my desktop.
I will go back to snapshot 20250515 to use Wayland again.
This is very frustrating.
I think this is mesa files problem.
I will wait for a next snapshot.
I have installed this nvidia open driver but inxi -SGaz shows nouveau driver.
Am I doing something wrong?

We can’t see over your shoulder. It would have been good to see results showing that the nvidia driver was successfully loaded at least. Malcolm’s advice to use the nvidia-open driver makes sense, and consistent with what I’ve read online for this card.
Yes, I suspect this will be the issue, but wondering if the regression just impacts those using certain drivers. A bug report is probably the best way forward.
@rektal your Mesa files should be from openSUSE?
Good question Malcolm. The output they shared already showed from Packman.
Mesa from Packman is located in a separate repository now, AFAIK only needed for some corner cases?
