Zypper Repos

I have opensuse 11.2 on a vmware virtual machine (Vmware player 5.0.1 build-894247) and tried to install postgresql using the OSS repo here:

https://en.opensuse.org/Package_repositories#Oss

I run the following commands:

**zypper ar Index of /pub/opensuse/discontinued/distribution/11.2/repo/oss OSS

zypper install OSS postgresql**

And I get the following error:
**
Failed to provide Package postgresql-libs-8.3.14-0.2.1. Do you want to retry retrieval?

[SUSE-Linux-Enterprise-Server-11-SP2 11.2.2-1.234|cd:///?devices=/dev/sr1,/dev/sr0] Can’t provide file ‘./suse/x86_64/postgresql-libs-8.3.14-0.2.1.x86_64.rpm’ from repository ‘SUSE-Linux-Enterprise-Server-11-SP2 11.2.2-1.234’

I have a Dell L321X with no CD drive. My fstab file:

/dev/sda1 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/sda2 / ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 1
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs noauto 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0

When I run:
dmesg | grep sr0

I get:
** 3.717015] sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 1x/1x writer dvd-ram cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
3.717310] sr 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0**

Your help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello welcome here.

Can you please post computer text between CODE tag. You get them by using the # button the toolbar above the post editor. That is much better then all the bold and other things you do.

Also please do not tell stories like: when I do statement x, I get the error y. Copy/paste of the complete thing (prompt, command, output, next prompt) between the CODE tags will tell it all.

You will be aware that almost nobody will have openSUSE 11.2 in running state anymore. Thus answering your question might be a bit troublesome.

Well that isn’t itself a repository

Why is it all in upper case? It can’t run like that.
And as hcvv asks, please use Code tags.

OK an openSUSE 11.2 repository.

but now we have a SLES repository?

Are you running openSUSE or SLES?

It isn’t in upper case on the web site. It is bold. But more or less unreadable in any case.

I see you took the trouble to read and found SLES. Interesting mix :frowning:

Bold is translated by the NNTP gateway to all caps. On my list of fixes
to get into the gateway.

I think the op is getting confused between SLES 11 Sp2 and openSUSE 11.2. For a naive user both look similar.
Hence he or she is adding 11.2 repos to SLES. Then again i might be wrong

You are probably right. It is not allways easy to filter the SLES users out of these forums. They hide in several ways

You are right, I am moving this conversation to the SLES forum. Sorry for the confusion.

This being SLES, it is closed now.
