zypper error

Hi,

I am running openSUSE 13.2 “Harlequin”. Every time I try to use zypper I get this error :

# zypper refresh
File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium 'http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/database/openSUSE_13.2/'

The repos I have are :

# zypper lr -d

Have the repos moved? Looking at the first repo, when I point my browser at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/database/openSUSE_13.2/ it fails, but I do see things at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/database

I’m fairly new to openSuSE so this could well be something I’m ignorant about, apologies if that’s the case.

Thanks,

13.2 has reached End of Life ( https://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime ) status and thus many repositories have been taken down (and won’t come back), also 13.2 will not receive further security patches.

You should look at upgrading to 42.2 whenever possible.

No, they have been removed (i.e. deleted) completely for 13.2.

13.2 is out of support since 2 months. Existing 3rd party repositories are likely going to disappear soon, if they haven’t already.

Ah, I see. Thanks for replying.

You can find previous releases located here but as has been mentioned
there will be NO updates. Use at your own risk.

I only recently went from 12.3 to leap 42.2 mainly due to 13.3 not happening. I thought point 3 releases were maintained until the next one - maybe not any more but 13.2 turned into a point 3 as there weren’t any more. I suspect that reducing that cycle will put a number of people off opensuse. There are others which offer a extremely long support cycle on some releases but I’d have to wonder if it keeps up with applications.

I carried on adding to 12.3 by either compiling from source or if available right clicking downloaded rpm’s and selecting open with yast which is usually called something else. Then keep hitting skip refresh. Often all is ok but there will come a point when it wont be. 12.3’s is long since past.

Actually is some ways an unsupported release is better for adding the latest version of some apps when it will run with what is installed on a system as it wont get interfered with. I decided to install the very latest version of a browser on 42.2 and some things had to be downgraded due to an auto update that locked up because it couldn’t do it. Fortunately Yast update could. I have assembled one app and the system doesn’t know about that one at all. I have also installed an unsupported phot app called fotoxx using software search and a one click install. I’d be completely lost without it. It fits in very well with rawtherapee which I am pleased to see is now supported. A number of applications become available under unsupported very soon after there are new releases. All of them are popular.

lol!LOLL maybe I should have installed 13.2 a few days before support ended. If browsers have dependencies on java versions I may well wish I had.
