I am explicitly following upgrade per: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:System_upgrade. Repos shown below. All are enabled as suggested in the instructions and have been refreshed and updates made.
When I run the zypper dup as below, I get 98 error issues. See below:

Text at the bottom refers to problem file #1 and offers solution.
Did I do something wrong? Do I need to go through each problem and resolve independently?
For now I changed back to 15.2 until I get a procedure to move ahead.
I do all my 15.2 to 15.3 with only 3 repos - it is impossible to update all the others as they do not know what is going to be installed as they may need repos to be accepted and the dup does not do that
from you list I would do 9 10 11 and disable 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 12 13 14
after the 1000’s of downloads finish you need to go to command mode (ctrl+alt+f3) and login as root
allow all the changes - there will be some but that is normal
you run these comands in command mode screen - you will break things if run in the gui as libraries that are running will change and the gui will crash.
You will get the next choice/solution once you answered the first question.
I would suggest to allow changing vendor, that just means the package comes from another repo. You can also accomplish that by adding “–allow-vendor-change” to your “zypper dup”.
Review the list that remains after that.
The suggestion to only enable the “core repo’s” will make the update possible but probably means that you will run into problems when you enable them again, and likely that is not wanted.
Not solved yet. Need advice. I modified zypper dup command to include --allow-vendor-change and ran as below. I still have all repos enabled.
localhost:/home/tom # zypper --releasever=15.3 dup --allow-vendor-change

This time I first got 5 problems. I made option selections for this 5 and 5 more appeared. Perhaps, I still have the initial 98 and are getting the problems 5 at a time.
Am I better off selecting the “deinstallation” option or the “keep obsolete” option for these files? Based up on advice I receive, I will cycle through the problems to start the dup. Hopefully, I can repair what I need afterwards.
I will next try reduced repo approach as suggested above.

I went with dvd upgrade. The upgrade dialogue from dvd found unresolved problems requiring manual intervention. Each file problem had only 2 alternatives. First was to “install with vendor change”. Second was to keep installed file. For all files, I checked “install with vendor change”. I think there were about the same 98 problems as zypper found.
Upgrade proceeded installing 5000+ files. Reboot went fine BUT I am now in reduced resolution screen.
Need help to get back to 1920 x 1080. I am still on nvidia proprietary drivers according to yast hardware-info. There is update new version in nvidia repo.
Seek advice to get back to higher resolution. I have mate, kde, and gnome desktops installed if one helps more than another, I can go to that one.
Just a suggestion here. You could implement the following and see if most, if not all of those problems disappear. You can always abort if doesn’t look effective.
Set the repositories used during the “zypper dup” process to equal priority (i.e. 99). I did this yesterday on the second system I have upgraded from 15.2 to 15.3 and it removed all problems with the exception of Firefox related needing vendor change. That one was due to being at version 89, which isn’t ported to 15.3 yet.
My repositories used were Packman, OSS/Non-OSS updates and main, so 5 total.
It wasn’t until I did this that file counts (installed/removed) looked somewhat normal for a distribution upgrade. I believe it was ~2800 upgraded/~700 installed. Those numbers were totally different prior to that change.
Note that once the “zypper dup” completed and I rebooted I did the following. Re-prioritized repositories as follows:
1 Packman
2 Main Updates
3 Backports Updates (this one gets added during dup)
4 SLES Updates (this one gets added during dup)
5 Non-OSS Updates
6 Main (no auto-refresh)
7 Non-OSS (no auto-refresh)
I then ran zypper up, followed by zypper dup. I noticed around 60 downgrades during the dup which seemed strange. However, I just now (June 7) ran a normal “zypper up” and and it showed 117 to be upgraded. So I’m guessing that perhaps stuff is still being ported to Packman. I know this has been the most problematic upgrade I can remember, and I can only attribute that to the SLES integration. Hopefully just growing pains, either OpenSUSE or my own.
